2014 Rockpile Petite Sirah

My Petite Sirah is sourced from the Rockpile AVA in northern Sonoma County. Overlooking Lake Sonoma, this vineyard sits well above the fogline giving the Petite Sirah maximum sun exposure. The slightly cooler temperatures than the neighboring Dry Creek Valley allow for longer hang time and fruit development. 2014 had very consistent mild heat throughout the growing season. Because of the dry winter and warm spring, veraison was about two weeks earlier than usual. In some cases, this resulted in an early harvest. In others, it resulted in more hang time. The Petite Sirah falls in the latter category, and the result is a very full, rich wine with plenty of acidity (one of the general signatures of the 2014 vintage).

Cheers!
