2013 Keating 'Encomium' Cabernet Sauvignon

Encomium (Latin) means "enthusiasm and warmth in praising a person or thing." As always, this wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, a 50/50 blend of my Beckstoffer Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and the mountain Cabernet Sauvignon from the 50-year old Montecillo vineyard overlooking Sonoma Valley. Only one select barrel of each to produce a mere 50 cases. The sixth vintage in this series is dedicated to my late grandfather, John Keating, Sr. - "... a former Navy Lieutenant and a dedicated husband of 72 years, his hobbies included tennis and hunting. His biggest passion was fishing off of the San Francisco coast, the city in which he lived his entire life and in his own words at a recent family reunion, 'started this whole mess.'"
